Billet Engineering chooses to recognise R U OK? Day a month early, it sends a clear signal:
checking in on people shouldn’t be limited to one date on the calendar.
By doing this, we are reinforcing the idea that:
- Conversations about mental health matter every day
- Support shouldn’t wait for a designated event
- A proactive culture of care is stronger than a once‑a‑year reminder
Why This Approach Matters
Many workplaces treat R U OK? Day as a single event—morning tea, posters, maybe a talk.
But mental health challenges don’t follow a schedule. Recognising the day regular (or often) helps:
- Normalise regular check‑ins
- Reduce stigma around speaking up
- Encourage ongoing connection
- Build a culture where people feel seen and supported
It’s a subtle but meaningful shift from “We support you today” to “We support you always.”
